Description

"Letters to Milena" are addressed to Milena Jesenska, a Czech journalist and lover of Franz Kafka. Their romance began in the spring of 1920 and lasted only a few months, but their correspondence continued until 1923. It was to Milena Yesenska that the writer gave his diaries and "Letter to Father", in which he described his very complicated relationship with his father. Kafka's fears, which Milena recognized, prevented them from being together. So it is not surprising that their paths diverged.
Stories ("Description of One Struggle", "Nora", "Judgment", "Transformation", "The Holodomeister", etc.), which are also included in this edition, like other works of Kafka, are imbued with absurdity and fear of the outside world and the higher authority and are able to arouse feelings of anxiety in the reader. The heroes of the stories are people who are rejected by an indifferent society because they are different, which means they are "sick", so they have no place among ordinary people. They have to go... Unfortunately, this is exactly what Kafka himself felt in real life.
