I used to be proud of my hands. Now I have only one thought: “These hands buried my mother.”
Ning is forced to live with the realization that it was she who brewed poisoned tea for her mother. Now this same poison is slowly killing her younger sister Shu.
The only chance to save her is to win a competition with the shennong-shi, masters of the ancient magical art of tea preparation. And Ning goes to the imperial city to take part and win.
But instead of a fair fight, she finds herself in a whirlpool of court intrigues, dangerous rivals and meets a mysterious (and very attractive) young man, whose truth can cost her not only victory, but also her life.
