Antoine de Saint-Exupéry always dreamed of the sky. At the age of 12, he made his first flight to the stars, so it is not surprising that it was he who created an incredible story about a pilot and a young prince from another planet. From the moment of its first publication in 1943, it enchanted readers both young and old. "The Little Prince" has been translated into more than 250 languages. This makes it one of the world's most read and translated books.
Exupery personally painted all the simple watercolor illustrations for his work. He did not consider himself an artist, but he often involuntarily drew sketches of people on scraps of paper. At the story's beginning, the hero collapses in the Sahara desert. Exupery knew what he was writing about. After all, before the beginning of the Second World War, he served in aviation, transporting mail between Africa and South America. To break the world record for the fastest flight from Paris to Saigon, Exupery had an accident in the desert, 125 kilometers from Cairo.
Our edition of "The Little Prince" brings together different cultures. This edition of the fairy tale, illustrated by an Asian artist from China - Ake, allows seeing how a representative of eastern culture imagined the little prince.
