Description

The life and work of Hermann Hesse from 1918 to 1925 are marked by various trends in the ideological and aesthetic development of the author.
If "Journey", "Resort", "Journey to Nuremberg" are connected by autobiographical motifs, then the stories "In the Pressel Garden House" and "Childhood of Francis of Assisi" fall somewhat out of this series chronologically and thematically. Common to all of them, however, is the motive of traveling, the writer's desire to learn something new, departure from everyday reality and an attempt to find the "inner homeland", where the Hesse traveler feels comfortable on the physical, psychological, and spiritual levels.
This book is the author's thoughts, expressed in various artistic genres: drawings, prose miniatures, and philosophical poems. This is a kind of journey "to oneself", searching for an answer to the question of how to live on.
