Description

Maksym Rylskyi is known primarily as a poet and translator, but few people know about his prose works. The stories of the early period are mostly lyrical etudes imbued with elegiac moods, although sometimes romantically tinged. These are literary fairy tales, and pictures, embodied in words, and impressions from the fascination of nature and Easter morning, as well as the power of the epic canvas "Merry Brothers", which arose from the memories of high school friends. The selection includes essays from the "Evening Conversations" series, memories of contemporaries, stories and anecdotes about leisure time spent hunting and fishing, reflections on theater and cultural achievements. And the travel notes are dominated by a lyrical perception of the world of unknown lands, impressions of the landscape and architecture, gastronomic delights, as well as the warmth of meetings with world artists, in particular, from the hospitality of Luis Aragon and the surprise of contemplating the painting "Dove of Peace" by Pablo Picasso.
