Description

“The Melchior Elephant, or the Man Who Thought” is both an autobiographical novel and a metaphorical story of the first generation of Ukrainian independence in the Donbas. If you want to feel the atmosphere of Makiivka and Donetsk or remember it, then this book is for you.

This is a very frank book. And this frankness is impressive.

It is about dreams, poverty, currency trading, higher humanitarian education and the complete lack of opportunities for its application. The author of this book is a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy, who digs graves and works as a loader; that is all philosophy.

On the cover you see worn-out sneakers - the main character dreams of serving in the French Foreign Legion and has been saving money for a trip for several years. He knows that he will not be accepted into the Legion, but he desperately, maniacally strives for the goal, because three days in Paris are the brightest event of his life.

This is a book about an alcoholic father with whom there has never been and will never be a chance to talk.
But the author has something to say to him.
