“A Child’s Memoirs” is a sequel to “Morbakka,” a book about the childhood home of Selma Lagerlöf, the first female Nobel laureate in literature. Already a young teenager, Selma returns to Morbakka from her uncle and aunt, with whom she lived in Stockholm, and the events on the farm once again envelop her in their whirlwind. The girl tells about her growth, her dreams and regrets, about relatives and neighbors, as well as the adventures and bizarre stories that filled their daily lives. They go to Morbakka for a visit, organize parties and a home theater there, and start ambitious projects. At the same time, Selma sees her father getting older and resists thoughts about the possible decline of their valley. If only the carefree childhood could last as long as possible…
