Description

The research of the famous Ukrainian historian Valentyn Otamanovskyi (1893–1964) reveals the socio-economic dynamics of the cities of Right-Bank Ukraine from the decayed semi-agricultural urban centers of the Ruin era and the first quarter of the 18th century to the trade, craft and industrial urban formations of the second half of this century.

The significance of royal privileges and self-organization of urban communities in the fight against the arbitrariness of the elders and for the return of former rights is analyzed. The growth of cultural demands of the urban population and the establishment of craft and medical medicine and pharmacy in the cities are highlighted.
