Military Poetry “Between Heaven and War”
Excerpt from the preface to the poetry collection “Between Heaven and War” by Ukrainian military man, artist, and poet Valerii Puzik:
I am convinced that the prose and poetry of the military are the literature by which they will study the modern history of Ukraine. This is literature, reading which, future generations will know the truth. This is the literature of memory and struggle. A chronicle of feelings, rhythms, and pulsations on the verge of life and death. This is literature about who we are and where we come from. And now this literature, no matter how pathetic it may sound, is a weapon in the fight for the independence of our state, because:
When the angels arrive, they will not have many tasks:
to remember your straight and strange paths, your ups and downs,
to find your answers to questions and the importance of these questions,
and who chose them for you, which righteous people and which poets.
