My Repentance

The novel "My Repentance" (2011) is one of the greatest works of modern literature, it has been translated into twelve languages, and the total circulation is almost half a million copies. These are the author's reflections on evil in human history, presented through the depiction of the life of an intellectual born after the war in Barcelona and the story of an unusual antique violin with a magical sound, created by a Cremona craftsman; a story that, starting from the seed from which the tree for its body grew, has always been liberally sprinkled with blood. The story on behalf of the main character, already affected by Alzheimer's disease, is saturated with rich historical reminiscences. It is about sincere and high love, about love for the beauty of things that leads to crimes, about friendship and envy, about human nobility and meanness, which are quite often combined, about spiritual searches and the meagerness of everyday life... This repentance is not not only the hero of the novel, but also each of us.
