This is an exhibition catalog of Michel Andreenko: Revisited, featuring paintings, drawings, sketches, and archival documents from the Drs. Alexandra and Andrew Ilkiw collection. Exhibition at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (UIMM) from June 18, 2022 to September 25, 2022. Curator: Adriane Kochman.

The exhibition and catalog focus on noted Ukrainian modernist Michel [Mychajlo] Andreenko (1894-1982), his career – from theatrical set designs and non-representational work of the 1920s, surrealistic naturalism, his Vanishing Paris series of the 1940s-1950s, and his return to non-representation in the mid-1950s.

Mykhailo Andrienko-Nechytaylo was born in Odesa according to some sources, according to others - in Kherson, studied in Kherson and St. Petersburg, worked in Bucharest, Chisinau, Akkerman, Prague. Since childhood, he dreamed of living in Paris, and in 1923 this dream came true. Andrienko spent most of his life in an apartment on Rue Vojirar. Charcoal sketches from the Vanishing Paris series show the city as the artist saw it.

The catalog Michel Andreenko: Revisited is the most complete presentation of the leading representative of Ukrainian modernism in Ukraine and the USA.

The catalog Michel Andreenko: Revisited prepared by UIMM and RODOVID Press, in two languages - English and Ukrainian, includes more than 90 reproductions, biography and author's text of art researchers Adriana Kochman and Vita Susak.
