MYPH / Young Mykolaiv Photography

MYPH is the first photo publication about the "Young Mykolaiv Photography" school, which was founded by Serhiy Melnychenko in 2018. It started in Melnichenko's hometown, but now his students are all over Ukraine and abroad.

"When I conceived the School," says Serhiy, "I wanted to work on broadening ideas and understanding of modern photography among photo artists, colleagues, and students. I wanted professional growth, communication. And we did a lot during the four years of MYPH's existence: in addition to practical training, we organized and participated in more than twenty projects (exhibitions, festivals, fairs, etc.) in Ukraine, Poland, Italy, France, Austria, and South Korea. After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the school created its own NFT collection. It contains 333 photographs, and 50% of the proceeds from their sale are transferred to aid the army and war victims."

Serhii Melnychenko, as a compiler, selected 60 authors for the photo book. Designer Kateryna Lesiv proposed the idea of dialogues so that the photo artists could continue communication with the teacher and the authors of the book, talk about their searches, thoughts and dreams.
