This volume of the complete works of Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (1844–1900) partly reproduces the first volume of the 15-volume Critical Research Edition (KSA) of the distinguished German philosopher, which first appeared in 1980 and was prepared on the basis of the Critical Complete Edition compiled by Giorgio Colli and Mazzino Montinari, which was published by Walter de Greuther in 1967 and the following years.
This volume contains the early works - The Birth of Tragedy - and four "Untimely Reflections": "David Strauss as Confessor and Writer", "On the Use and Harm of History for Life", "Schopenhauer as Educator" and "Richard Wagner at Bayreuth". Here, the attentive reader has the opportunity to feel the main — tragic — tone of the philosopher's work, which will allow him not to get lost in the labyrinth of his seemingly chaotic thinking.
