In N. Romanovych-Tkachenko's book "The Horns Are Calling Us" there are essays, stories, memoirs published during the writer's lifetime. She writes about the stormy days of the beginning of the 20th century. Her works - partly autobiographical - are permeated with the mood of the era, tell about the events and destinies of people at the turn of the century. They reveal the conflict between old and new morality, the social psychology of those times, raise the issue of women's emancipation, love and marriage, and inner freedom in a happy marriage. Her heroine is looking for a harmonious combination of personal life, motherhood and social activities. The ideal of a woman as an independent, strong, intellectual, creative personality shines through from the pen of the author. And the texts are filled with the atmosphere of the frantic pace of life at that time, its rapid movement and changeability, which is completely inherent in our turbulent times.
