The book is dedicated to the return from oblivion of the names and ideas of many doctors accused of “Ukrainian bourgeois nationalism”, and contains information from many archival sources, photographs, testimonies that show the life and fate of the founders of national medicine. The tragic fate of Ukrainian doctors, highly qualified teachers of the Kyiv Medical Institute, who participated in the creation of the Ukrainian People’s Republic in October 1917, went through the repressions of the 1920s and 1930s, and some of them became victims of the fabricated political case “Union for the Liberation of Ukraine” (SVU), is meaningfully presented. Separate chapters of the book are dedicated to prominent personalities who were touched by the predatory hand of “Soviet justice”.
