Uninvited guest

Effie, even though she is an adult, is still reeling from her parents’ divorce, which they announced last Christmas. Her father and his horrible new girlfriend are posting photos of themselves with the hashtags #viagraworks and #sexcolitobizashistyestyast, and now they are selling the family home they love and throwing an eviction party... But Effie is not invited.

However, she remembers her precious wooden dolls from her childhood, safely hidden in the chimney, and has no choice but to go back and get them. The plan is simple and ingenious: she will sneak away, take the dolls, and leave. No one will know she was there.

But Effie can’t find them. And as she sneaks through dusty attics, hides under tables, and tries (unsuccessfully) to avoid meeting her ex-boyfriend, she discovers an unexpected truth about her family—and even herself.

Effie soon realizes that the only way to find out what's really going on with her family is to sneak into the party...
