The Unpleasant Shop. Ho-yeon Kim

Dokko lives in Seoul Central Station. He has no memory of his past, and the only thing he knows for sure is that he could use a drink. When he finds a lost wallet containing documents, his life is completely changed.

Mrs. Yeom, a retired history teacher and current owner of a 24-hour convenience store in her neighborhood, is distraught over the loss of the wallet until she receives a mysterious call from the person who found it. To thank the homeless man, she offers him a free lunch from the store. Seeing how much joy the food brings him, Mrs. Yeom impulsively invites him to come in for lunch every day.

Ironically, Dokko saves the store from a robber—a courageous act that prompts Mrs. Yeom to offer the bear-like man a job on the night shift, despite the objections of her cautious employees. The new employee quickly wins the favor of the neighborhood's quirky residents, becoming a good listener and source of advice for colleagues and neighbors, and helping his new boss save the shop from financial ruin. But just as Dokko's business is starting to improve, Mrs. Yom's mischievous son, who is eager to sell the shop, hires a detective to dig into the mysterious man's past and find out what he's trying so hard to forget.
