Immobility is an ambiguous name, and it is, of course, not only about property. It is also (or maybe primarily? I leave it to you) a dangerous state, a stupor, a slumber. A state from which it is so difficult to get out. Sometimes it is unrealistic.
For me, it was necessary to record this reality disappearing under the news, this moment of a breakthrough in society. To record and realize.
author Anna Gruver
2019, summer. Mysha, a 26-year-old graduate student from Kyiv, goes to Krakow to join an international project to study the lives of migrants. But the girl soon realizes that slogans about humanism are just a screen for political games. She encounters the pain of others and the tragedies of people whose lives are crumbling behind closed doors. Violence, betrayals, and personal losses radically change her. How will Mysha return home? And what awaits her there?
“Real Estate” is a slice of human destinies before the pandemic, before a full-scale war – historical shifts like tectonic shifts, and our lives like small boats drifting in this ocean of white noise. A story of uncertainty and anxiety – about memory that is already disappearing under the immense volume of new and new information, pain, tragedies and destruction. And at the same time, a story about love that breaks through like a plant through asphalt.
Warning: the work contains descriptions of candid scenes.
