Description

Sigmund Freud is a famous psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who lived in Austria at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. S. Freud's psychoanalytic theories had an unprecedented impact on the intellectual development of the entire 20th century. His theory of psychoanalysis remains one of the most popular scientific theories to this day. Psychoanalysis gave impetus to such literary and theoretical trends as poststructuralism, feminist literary criticism, and unconventional hermeneutics. It continues to be used in new directions. One of Freud's main achievements was that he created an interesting and understandable theory for everyone, and also proposed a method for using this theory. Thus, his teachings became accessible to everyone, and not just a narrow circle of doctors or other scientists. The main object of analysis in Freud's psychiatric works was the human unconscious, which is understood as an active but uncontrolled part of the psyche. This approach destroyed the Enlightenment idea of a rational person who is in complete control of his or her consciousness.
