"New Vitamin Kitchen" - Osypa Zaklynska (Lviv 1928) - decorated in the style of Galician secession (modern) in the watercolor technique. The artist is Valentyna Arepyeva (Dnipro).
"The book is given as holiday, New Year's or wedding gifts for young and old housewives in the city and in the countryside," wrote the magazine "Nova Khata", advertising Osypa Zaklynska's "New Vitamin Kitchen" in 1928.
"New Vitamin Kitchen" was first published in Lviv in 1928. Osypa Zaklynska was a modern, well-educated, extremely organized, and progressive woman, active in public life, she was a member of the Union of Ukrainian Women, but the main place in her life was family, and home.
What is the uniqueness of this book? Not only in the language in which it is written. Reading it, you seem to be transported to Galicia at the beginning of the 20th century, feeling the spirit of old Lviv. Not only with recipes of ancient Ukrainian, but above all Galician, cuisine, of which there are more than a thousand.
This is also:
- a book about running a home and nurturing home coziness, because "There can be no health and happiness in a family where there is no order, where cooking is careless";
- a book about the culture of food: "You need to eat little, but carefully", "at the table, let's try to have a pleasant mood, let's nibble the food well and calmly...";

Osypa Zaklynska dreamed of reforming Ukrainian cuisine "and we will be on the right path to the revival of our people and humanity and the rise of vitality in our children." Hence the telling title of the book - "New Vitamin Kitchen".
