The Last of the Unicorns

Peter S. Beagle's fantasy novel "The Last of the Unicorns" describes the extraordinary adventures of a Unicorn who sets out in search of her tribe, who have gone missing. Along the way, she makes friends and enemies, and gets acquainted with the world of people. The author raises the question of choosing between mortality and immortality, between being human and non-human, the theme of the struggle between good and evil, and the theme of the eternity of love. This deeply philosophical work is distinguished by its rich language, is imbued with subtle humor, and fascinates with skillful descriptions of characters and places where events take place.

The story "Two Hearts" was published in 2005 and is a distant continuation of the novel. Some of the characters are well known, as they have wandered from the pages of the fantasy "The Last of the Unicorns." The story is told from the name of a ten-year-old girl, Suz, who embarks on a long journey to save her native village from a terrible disaster.
