The hospital in a provincial town has long been waiting for changes. Kent O'Donnell, the newly appointed head of the surgical department, is ready for them. Fresh discoveries in medicine, advanced research, modern approaches to treatment - these are the principles on which, in his opinion, the work of the institution should be based.
But not all colleagues support his ideas. The biggest opponent of reforms is pathologist Joe Pearson. He is used to trusting only himself. Dr. Pearson has considerable experience, authority, and most importantly - connections. He is able to make life difficult for the new director. In Joe's hands are the final diagnoses of everyone who comes to this hospital. But maybe it's time to diagnose yourself?
