Among the artists and intellectuals of the last century, whose work aroused great interest among the Western intelligentsia and had a significant influence on it, one of the leading places belongs to the French writer, Nobel Prize laureate Albert Camus (1913-1960). The importance of his contribution to literature and spiritual culture is difficult to overestimate. The interest of the modern reader in the works of Camus has not diminished at all. Therefore, it can be said with certainty that the work of this writer has withstood the most severe and fair test - the test of time.
"The Fall" is the last completed story by Camus. It tells the story of the respectable lawyer Jean-Baptiste Clamence. For many years he dragged on a thoughtless, although quite decent, existence, but one day he passed by a drowning woman, pretending not to see or hear anything. This act changed his whole life and doomed him to many years of painful doubts, when the same downfall began...
Folio Publishing House previously published the story "The Stranger" and the plays "Caligula", "Misunderstanding", "State of Siege" and "The Just" in this series.
