Patrick Süskind (1949) is a famous German writer. His career began with work as a journalist, while he studied history at the universities of Bavaria. The first success came after the release of the play “Double Bass” in 1980, followed by “Perfume”, “The Dove”, “The Story of Mr. Sommer” and other works.

The novel “Perfume”, which was published in 1985 and became a bestseller, brought the author the Gutenberg Prize for the best foreign novel in 1986 in Paris and the World Fantasy Prize for the best novel in 1987.
