PERON. A possible story

There is probably no more prominent and discussed figure in Latin America than Juan Domingo Peron. And today he continues to be the object of vigilant and diametrically opposed views. Dictator, great leader, "first worker" of Argentina; a man who indulged the ambitions of his strong-willed wife; Latin American visionary; a progressive benefactor who introduced a modern socially just society in Argentina or, on the contrary, a traitor, one who forever destroyed a prosperous nation, fueling contradictions and unfounded aspirations of his supporters.
Horacio Vázquez-Rial manages to trace in detail the path of the formation of the three-time president of Argentina and the Leader of the Nation, to refute the myths that surround Peron's personal life, to declassify unpublished documents, to analyze the still silent foreign investments in Argentina, without losing an objective view and impartiality to carefully document step by step the course of events of that time. The author focuses precisely on the figure of Peron and his rise to power from the illegitimate son of an Indian woman to the President of the country, and not on his famous wife Evita or his officially unrecognized possible daughter, or the secret black rituals of the sinister López Rega and his third wife Isabel. 
Outside of Argentina, Peron is still in the shadow of his second wife Evita and remains to some extent a mystery to the rest of the world, but without knowing the biography of this complex and unusual man, his charisma, political influence and controversial character, it is impossible to understand the culture, history, politics and the way of thinking of Argentines.
