Planet of the Apes: a novel

"Planet of the Apes" is a science fiction novel by the French writer Pierre Boulle, written in the form of a diary. Its main character is journalist Ulysses Meru, who, as part of a space expedition, finds himself on a planet where intelligent monkeys rule, and people, dumb animals, have not managed to rise higher on the evolutionary ladder. Full of caustic irony, this book was and remains a reflection on the topic of social changes and the eternal cycle of the development and decline of great civilizations.
