"Journey to Ixtlan" is the third book about Carlos Castaneda's apprenticeship with a mysterious Yaqui Indian shaman. In it, Castaneda returns to don Juan to realize that the "stopping of the world" was not just a metaphor, but the key to the beginning of the journey to Ixtlan. Everyone has their own Ixtlan - this is the home we leave to find ourselves and, having experienced enlightenment, already in the rank of a warrior set out on a journey home. Don Juan teaches Carlos Castaneda to choose the best place for rest, to notice the signs and consent of the world - because without the consent of the world, a person cannot understand anything; teaches to get rid of personal history and treat animals and plants as equals; teaches the art of hunting and the way of a warrior, teaches to accumulate strength, to find one's "place of strength" and a "worthy opponent" - because only a worthy opponent is capable of mobilizing in us all our knowledge and skills necessary for "stopping the world."
