This is the first edition of Oskar Kolberg's "Pokuttia" in Ukrainian, part of the multi-volume textbook "People. Its customs, way of life, language, traditions, proverbs, rites, charms, possessions, songs, music, and dances".
The Ukrainian edition of the work of the Polish researcher begins with an overview of the extremely rich and relatively little-known Ukrainian region, which lies above the Dnistro between Hutsulshchyna and Podillia. Geography, language, clothing, customs, and rites, including weddings, songs, and games are considered here. Kolberg's works to this day remain the most complete and most thorough description of Pokuttia and its traditions.
The translation and publication of this book are supported by the European Union under the "House of Europe" program.
