After World War II, the Western world faced the question of reconstruction and development. The use by European countries of their own institutional paths and historical peculiarities of relations between the state, business and society led to the post-war economic miracle - two decades of growth and prosperity thanks to skillful planning, the introduction of innovations, a "change of style" of private entrepreneurship and management of the state economy as a whole.
British economist Andrew Schonfield carefully analyzes the evolution of market economies and considers how Western countries integrated state intervention with market mechanisms to achieve economic development and social stability. The knowledge and experience shared by the author will certainly be useful for the post-war development of Ukraine.
