Description

Osyp Turianskyi (1880–1933) is one of the most tragic voices of Ukrainian literature, an author whose soul passed through the darkness of war, but managed to preserve the light of the word.
His works are true documents of the era. They are satirical and sharp ("The Struggle for Greatness", "The Chicken"), where behind the comic lies the painful truth about the pettiness, indifference and meaninglessness of human existence. Deeply philosophical, like the expressionist story-poem "Beyond the Boundaries of Pain", written after the horror of the First World War and Serbian captivity, in which the guns have already fallen silent, but pain still speaks for a long time. And also lyrical and patriotic.
The author's last work, the novel "Son of the Land", is a penetrating story about the inextricable connection of man with his native land, nature, and the language of his people. This is a work about beauty that heals, about love that heals, about memory that gives roots and is the heart and support for the human spirit. About a person who, although he grows from the earth, reaches for the sky with his soul.
