"Heroides" ("Letters of Heroines") is an epistolary genre unique in Roman poetry, created by Ovid. Mythical heroines, in fact real women, in the form of a lyrical monologue pour out their experiences caused by separation from men or lovers. The author of "Heroides", a subtle psychologist, a master of rhetorical and declamation poetry, "stages" the world of the female soul, striking in its diversity and richness of emotions. All this "action" is against the background of the macroworld: land, sea and sky. "Heroides", in its psychological depth, is like an echo of the voices of Greek tragedians, who also, in the open air, sang the eternal - love and suffering.
