Published in mid-December 1843, the 6,000th edition of "A Christmas Carol" sold out even before Christmas, and subsequent editions were sold out very quickly. Internal "push" was given to the English by Charles Dickens with his "Christmas Carol" - she brought into the celebration a powerful life-giving spirit of moral and spiritual purification, benevolence, and unity of all people in love for the Savior. With his novel, Dickens laid the foundations of a kind of "Christmas philosophy", cultivated since then in England and throughout the Western world.
