Christmas Holiday

At the age of twenty-three, a young man from a cultured English family, Charlie Mason, is endowed with good looks, good manners and a cheerful disposition. Charlie studied at Cambridge for three years and worked for his family's business. For Christmas, his father gives him a trip to Paris, where he plans to spend the Christmas holidays with his friend Simon Fenimore, now an impoverished journalist obsessed with communism, who is trying to rid himself of all human sympathy in order to be ready to serve the cause when the revolution comes. Simon introduces Charlie to a woman whose story will change his life forever. Lydia is a prostitute who atones for the guilt of her lover with her own humiliation.
