The Mummy Novel

"The Mummy's Novel" is a romantic fantasy by the classic of French literature, Théophile Gautier, on the theme of Ancient Egypt and the biblical story of the Jews' exodus from captivity, based on many documentary sources from the history of the Ancient East. An English lord and a German archaeologist find an untouched tomb in Egypt, where, to their surprise and contrary to the traditions regarding the burials of male pharaohs, a woman lies. And with her lies a scroll with the story of a mysterious mummy. This is a story about her love for a beautiful Gentile and the pharaoh's will, which can only be overcome by a miracle.
