Ukrainian journalist Maksym Eristavi has been promoting the discussion of the crimes of Russian colonialism in the public sphere for many years. A few days before the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the author launched a thread on his Twitter account in which he described the cases of Russian colonial invasions over the past hundred years and the identical formulas by which they occurred. Since then, the post has gone viral and has been called the "mother of all threads about Russian colonialism."
Together with a group of Ukrainian artists, Eristavi created an illustrated pocket guide about the 48 last invasions of Russian colonialism to popularize this knowledge for the world public.
The publication was prepared with the support of the NGO Museum of Contemporary Art and the Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund in cooperation with the Sigrid Rausing Trust. Part of the illustrations created as part of the illustration workshop for the book "Russian Colonialism" were transferred to the collection of the Ukrainian Museum of Contemporary Art (UMCA).
