Description

A brilliant stylist, Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio (born 1940) has published over 40 books, including short stories, essays, novels, fairy tales, and translations of myths. He was recognized as a classic of French literature during his lifetime. In 2008, Le Clézio was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. The writer's novel Diego and Frida was published by Folio.

The Ritournel of Hunger by J.-M. G. Le Clézio (2008) is a retrospective novel written "in memory of a girl who unwillingly became a heroine at the age of twenty." Returning to his mother's dramatic stories, tinged with the acute political situation of pre-war France and France during the occupation, the writer depicts the life of the Bren family, which survived all the hardships of wartime.
