Description

A significant role in the formation and development of Japanese realism was played by the work of the classic of new Japanese literature Natsume Soseki (real name - Shiobara Kinnosuke, 1867-1916), thanks to which the theme of the life quest of a young intellectual was penetratingly heard in Japanese literature. Addressing this problem in his works, Natsume Soseki was able to raise it to a high artistic and social level. His novels do not lose their relevance even today and provide answers to numerous questions that concern modern youth.

In the novel "Sanshiro" (1908), Natsume Soseki reveals the story of the personal formation of a twenty-three-year-old young man Sanshiro Ogawa, who goes to study in the very heart of Japan - Tokyo. The main character is just beginning his journey in a big city: he meets fellow students, mentors, cultural figures, and plunges into a whirlpool of opportunities, temptations, and disappointments. Almost every day, Sanshiro faces many doubts and experiences. How to find his place in a new, constantly changing world? How not to lose yourself in the emotional labyrinth and relentless movement of student life? How to take a step towards your love?..
