Janmuhammed (Edip Efendi) is a Crimean Tatar poet, chronicler and aristocrat of the 17th century. Son-in-law of the outstanding commander of the Crimean Khanate Togaybey. He accompanied the Kalgu Sultan Kyrym Geray during military campaigns. Author of the heroic-epic poems "Sefername" and "Tohaibei" about the joint military actions of the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian Cossacks against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
His works are important cultural and historical bridges between the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian peoples. They help us understand the complex and multifaceted relations that united and mutually enriched the ethnic groups that had long lived side by side in the same space.
