Lucius Annaeus Seneca (ca. 4 BC - 65 AD) was a Roman philosopher and writer, an outstanding representative of Stoicism. In his "Moral Letters to Lucilius" there are appeals to live in harmony with nature, to steadfastly endure the blows of fate, to follow the path of constant spiritual improvement. Philosophical and ethical views developed in "Letters" belong to the origins of Christian ideology.
