Sense and Sensibility

When the Dashwood family estate passes to the eldest son John and his wife, Mrs. Dashwood and her daughters - Elinor, Marianne and Margaret - are forced to look for a new home. Having settled in a cottage in Devonshire, the women gradually get used to a different way of life and a new circle of acquaintances. Soon, Elinor begins to be courted by the noble Edward Ferrars, and Marianne finds herself faced with a difficult choice between two suitors: the reserved and profound Colonel Brandon and the ambitious and charming adventurer John Willoughby. Their feelings, joys and disappointments are shaped by the era, social expectations and the fragile balance between prudence and sensuality that defines their world.
