What is Ukrainian Literature

The book includes 45 essays that first appeared in 2012-2013 in the columns of the newspaper "Ukraine Young" in the section "Literature Lessons from Leonid Ushkalov."

In them, the author raises a number of issues important for every person: happiness, freedom, love, truth, poetry, and loneliness... And the heroes of the essays are well-known classics, in particular Skovoroda, Kvitka-Osnovyanenko, Shevchenko, Gogol, Drahomanov, Franko, Lesia Ukrainka, Kobylianska, Vynnychenko, Khvylovy, Yohansen, Malaniuk, Dovzhenko, Yanovsky, and much less known authors: Krymsky, Shpol, Burevii, Chernov, Teliha, Livytska-Kholodna and others.

Written in a vivid journalistic style, these "lessons" indisputably testify to one thing: the Ukrainian literary tradition from ancient times to the present day is rich, colorful, and extremely interesting.
