Description

The famous Austrian writer Franz Kafka (1883-1924), author of the world-famous novels The Castle, The Trial, and America, published by Folio, is a recognized innovator in 20th-century prose.

The loneliness and alienation that the writer felt in his life may have prompted him to write a diary. Kafka began it in 1910 and kept it—sometimes with long breaks—until 1923. It is a long story about himself, his own experiences, and his reflections on literature, in which the writer sometimes acts as a reviewer of his own works. Lonely and incomprehensible to those close to him, Kafka is mired in his inner world. He seems to be fueled by all the negativity that surrounds him. On the pages of the diary—day after day, month after month—a real, very lonely and incomprehensible person appears, even to those close to him.

The publication includes diary entries made by Franz Kafka in 1910-1912.
