Parting Rock by Ted Williams is the second book, after Throne of Dragon Bone, in the cult fantasy Trilogy Memory, Grief and Thorn. The events take place on the fictional continent of Osten-Ard, where various peoples, including humans, elves and dwarves, live in harmony. Peace in the region is maintained thanks to the legendary King John the Presbyter, who killed the dragon with his own hands. However, over time, the king's health fails, and his sons begin a struggle for the throne.
The once related peoples, the Norns and the Sith, parted forever at the Rock of Farewell and went their separate ways. The way of the norns led them to hatred and bloody brutal war. The mastermind of the war sought to destroy the present world, which he did not like, and his wise mother sadly said, "Ineluki lives in the world of the past." Humans and Siths joined the fight against fanatics offended by the whole world.
