“Distant Horizons” is the third travelogue by Ukrainian traveler, writer, and photographer Sofiia Yablonska, which describes her trip around the world. Yablonska wrote it during her travels in 1934-1935, but she edited it for a long time, so it was first published only in 1939 in Lviv. This novel resembles a kind of travel diary, which the author turned to in order to capture the most interesting moments of the journey: to record special places, describe disappearing nationalities, confide in the most intimate experiences, such as meetings with a Vietnamese prince, and thoughts on the colonization processes that she observed while traveling through the Dutch and French colonies.
