Description

Al Pacino burst onto the film scene with meteoric speed. From 1971 to 1975, he starred in two parts of The Godfather, Serpico, and Dog Day Noon. These films were not just successful—they became milestones in the history of cinema. No one had made such a big splash since Marlon Brando and James Dean.

But Pacino was already in his thirties by then, and his life was hardly eventful. An actor in the avant-garde New York theater, he led a bohemian life, picking up odd jobs to devote himself to his art. He was raised by a gentle but mentally ill mother and her parents, but his main educators were the streets of the South Bronx, whose spirit remained with him forever. The teacher noticed Pacino's acting talent and advised him to enter the famous New York High School of Dramatic Arts, which decided his fate. Acting became his calling, and actors were his tribe, in times of joy and sorrow, in poverty, luxury and again in poverty, in joy and sorrow.

"Sonny Boy" is the memoirs of a man who no longer has anything to fear or hide. He sincerely talks about big roles, star duets and important relationships, as well as about the fine line between creativity and commerce. But the main theme of the book is love and devotion. Al Pacino was lucky to fall in love with his craft when he had no idea about its worldly delights, and this love continues to this day. That's what makes his life remarkable.
