Some jokes describe social processes very accurately and concisely. “What is democracy?” – the Sociologist was once asked. And he answered: “It is a social system in which power belongs to the people, and everything else to the authorities.” And instead of this witty answer, one could explain at length the sociological concept of minimalist democracy. The author selected anecdotes from various topics studied by sociologists, and in his comments to the anecdotes shows what conclusions sociologists could draw by analyzing the situation described in the anecdote. Each topic is also accompanied by a brief description of sociological concepts from the introductory sociology course lectures given by the author at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The main task of the book is to show that sociology is interesting and fun.
