"Steppe Horizons" by Liudmyla Kovalenko is a women's, urban, socio-everyday, realistic and autobiographical novel about women from Ukrainian and Greek-Ukrainian families in Mariupol. This is a story with a very cozy and warm everyday flavor, a kind of Ukrainian hygge with an interspersed social-historical, and sometimes socio-political events, which, however, do not overshadow the private history of the formation of a female personality in relationships with men. Love and everyday motifs and plots are complemented by a witty context of Ukrainian-Greek, Ukrainian-Jewish, Ukrainian-Russian relations, the local flavor of Mariupol and its surroundings, everyday life and traditions of the Ukrainian Azov region.
