Sunrise on the Reaping. Suzanne Collins

As the fiftieth Hunger Games approaches, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honor of the Fourth of Taming, a double portion of sacrifices will be taken from their homes. Haymitch Abernethy's sixteenth birthday, as always, falls on the Harvest. All he cares about this morning is getting through it and spending it with the girl he loves. But everything goes awry when his name is announced at the tribute draw. The boy is transported to the Capitol along with three other representatives of District 12: a thirteen-year-old girl who is like a sister to him, a young bookie, and the most arrogant girl in the district. As the games begin, Haymitch realizes that the chances of winning are slim. But inside him boils the desire to fight... and for the consequences of his resistance to reverberate far beyond the deadly arena.
