Light in August. William Faulkner

The novel by the outstanding master of prose, American writer, Nobel Prize laureate William Faulkner "Light in August" is distinguished by the complexity of form, content and subject matter. The author masterfully depicts a province in the southern United States in the period from the Civil War to the end of the 1920s and illuminates always painful problems, in particular the most acute and important of them - the racial issue. The work belongs to the world classics, it has been translated into several dozen languages. In 1998, the editorial staff of the famous publishing house "Modern Library" compiled a list of the most outstanding literary works of the 20th century. The novel "Light in August" occupies a prominent place in this list. It is being printed in Ukrainian for the first time.
