Shadows of the past

Georgette Heyer (1902–1974) is the author of over fifty historical novels, one of the most famous and beloved among the English. If after the first novel, “The Black Butterfly”, she became famous, then the second novel, “Shadows of the Past”, is considered the beginning of her real writing career.

Justin Alastair, Duke of Avon, is known for his callousness, character “like the devil himself” and dissolute lifestyle.
